Dixon Building Heritage Replication

Located on Front Street East in Toronto, the Dixon Building is a rare piece of the city’s historic commercial architecture. Its cast-iron façade arched upper openings, decorative pilasters, circular medallion details, and layered mouldings create a strong architectural rhythm that demanded a careful replication approach.

For this project, Synergy Group recreated the window systems to respect the original façade language while bringing the units up to modern expectations for performance and durability. The tall sash proportions, arched tops, slim horizontal rails, and narrow sightlines were all treated as key design elements, ensuring the new work felt integrated into the building rather than simply installed within it.

The result is a heritage replication project that preserves the character of the Dixon Building from the street. The windows maintain the depth, proportion, and visual weight of the original openings, allowing the ornate façade to remain the focus while quietly supporting the building with modern window construction.
